A Masterpiece of Classical Grandeur on Challenging Terrain

The Vision: European Elegance in Bangladesh This project represents a bold architectural statement in Kishorganj, bringing the timeless elegance of Neoclassical design to a residential landscape. The building facade is characterized by its striking symmetry and grandeur. Key architectural features include:

• The Grand Portico: Dominating the front elevation are towering, double-height fluted columns with ornate capitals, creating a regal entrance that draws the eye upward to the pediment.

• Ornate Fenestration: The residence features classic arched windows framed by decorative moldings. The balconies are guarded by intricate wrought-iron railings with floral motifs, adding a layer of delicate craftsmanship to the robust structure.

• Roofing Aesthetics: Deviating from the flat roofs common in Dhaka, this residence utilizes a hipped roof with blue shingles, providing excellent thermal insulation and a distinct "Villa" silhouette against the skyline.

The Engineering: Conquering Soft Soil While the architecture speaks of beauty, the engineering speaks of resilience. Kishorganj is known for its Soft Soil (Alluvial deposits), which poses a significant risk of settlement and liquefaction during earthquakes.

• Foundation Strategy: To counter the low bearing capacity of the soft soil, the structure sits on a Deep Pile Foundation (or rigid Mat Foundation, depending on final calc), transferring loads to the stable soil strata deep underground.

• Seismic Detailing: Because soft soil amplifies seismic waves, standard design was insufficient. We implemented BNBC 2020 Special Seismic Detailing. This involves:

  • Ductile Beam-Column Joints: Ensuring the frame can flex without snapping during tremors.

  • Shear Wall Core: Strategically placed stiffening walls to resist lateral sway.

  • Confined Masonry: Preventing the beautiful arched walls from cracking under stress.

• Safety: Designed for BNBC Seismic Zone coefficients specific to Kishorganj.
